Many men and women have excess fat and loose areas of skin on their body that they would love to correct without having to have a surgical procedure such as liposuction. New York City plastic surgeon Dr. Sherrell Aston offers BodyTite, which gives individuals the opportunity to attain a tighter figure through a minimally invasive radiofrequency skin tightening technique. The RF assisted liposuction (RFAL) in BodyTite allows Dr. Aston to effectively and safely help his patients improve their body contours. BodyTite is approved by the FDA and leaves patients with a tighter and smoother figure without scars for fast, impressive results.

BodyTite can be used to address most areas of the body. The most common areas that benefit from BodyTite include the abdomen, thighs, arms, chest, and knees. It can also be used on the lower back and buttocks. Ideal candidates for BodyTite treatments generally want to:
- Improve the appearance of loose, wrinkled skin
- Attain a slimmer figure without having surgical liposuction
- Avoid the downtime and scarring that results from surgery
- Attain a tighter, firmer look
- Improve the overall contours and silhouette of the body
What to Expect
BodyTite is performed inside of our New York City plastic surgery office. Most treatments take approximately 30 – 45 minutes per area and multiple sessions may be needed or recommended to attain the desired results. Dr. Aston usually performs BodyTite with a local anesthesia to help reduce any discomfort felt during the procedure. In some case, especially on larger or multiple areas, general anesthesia may be used. During the procedure, a tiny incision is made and the special BodyTite cannula is inserted where an internal and external thermometer will protect the patient from burns. Dr. Aston will carefully move the applicator around the treatment area so that it can work to loosen and liquefy the fat with radiofrequency waves. Once the fat is dissolved, it is easily suctioned out of the body. What makes BodyTite so revolutionary, is that the heat used during the fat removal process stimulates the natural production of collagen and elastic. This production to continues to occur over time, which helps tighten the skin and nearby connective tissue for skin contraction.
Most patients will need to rest at home for 5 – 10 days after their BodyTite treatment. A compression garment should be worn over the treated areas to promote healing while contouring the new body shape. Some results will be noticeable right after the procedure, but optimal results will not be visible for 3 – 6 months as the swelling and inflammation subside. While the fat that is removed cannot return, the remaining fat cells can become larger if the patient gains weight, so it is important to maintain a healthy, stable weight after BodyTite treatments.
