Dr. Sherrell Aston Rhinoplasty

I'm Sherrel Aston. I'm a double board certified plastic surgeon, right in the middle of Manhattan, New York, and today we're going to be talking about rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty really means changing the appearance of the nose. Today's rhinoplasty patient wants the nose to be modified in a way that it's consistent with their overall facial anatomy. Rhinoplasty is not just taking stuff away if you will. It's not just a reduction of the nose in many cases, but we will actually borrow cartilage from the septum to give architectural support to the nose, so that 25, 30, 40, 50 years later, the nose still looks natural. The surgery takes approximately an hour and a half. The patient wakes up quickly, and the majority of patients remain in our recovery room for about an hour. I get a great deal of satisfaction out of being able to do noses without having any external incisions. I'm headed towards 9,000 closed rhinoplasties. That's a lot of noses.
