Overview
Laser skin resurfacing is a nonsurgical skin rejuvenation procedure that uses targeted beams to remove the upper layer of skin. By doing this, a healthy, new layer of fresh skin is develops. New York laser skin resurfacing specialist, Dr. Aston, uses the Erbium laser skin resurfacing technology for his patients. This laser provides dramatic improvement in the texture and tone of the skin, and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, sun spots, blemishes, and other skin irregularities. The Erbium laser is a milder option than some of the other CO2 lasers on the market today. It is effective and provides good results, but with less downtime and risk. The Erbium laser also stimulates the production of collagen under the skin, which can help promote skin tightening. Dr. Aston will provide a thorough skin analysis and determine if the Erbium laser is the right choice for your facial rejuvenation goals.

Procedure Technique
Laser skin resurfacing uses controlled light beams with high intensity to vaporize and remove the upper layer of the skin. When the superficial skin is removed, it gives way for new skin to grow, which masks the face with a new layer of epidermis. Any pain during the procedure is managed with local anesthesia and/or sedatives to help the patient relax. Laser skin resurfacing’s advanced technology allows accurate targeting of smaller areas so the surrounding skin is not affected.
During/After the Procedure
Laser resurfacing is an outpatient procedure. Local anesthesia with intravenous sedation or general anesthesia can be used to minimize the discomfort that would occur during the procedure. You will be prescribed a mild analgesia post procedure. Since the epidermis is peeled away, the skin may appear red for several weeks. As it heals, crusting may be present. It is very important to follow the our advice on skin care to prevent scarring.
